CELEBRATING UNITY, EXCELLENCE AND THE SPIRIT OF SPORTSMANSHIP – ANNUAL SPORTS MEET – ‘CONCORDIA’ 2024-25

The Annual Sports Meet ‘Concordia’ 2024-25 unfolded on November 30, 2024 with grandeur and enthusiasm, showcasing NPS, Chikkabanavara’s spirit of excellence in academics, sports and co-curricular activities. Held in the School Ground, the event was a vibrant tapestry of athleticism, discipline and cultural pride.
The event began with an impressive reception by the NCC cadets, who escorted the esteemed Chief Guest, renowned Indian Field Hockey Player Mr. Vickram Kanth. The school flag was hoisted, symbolising unity, pride and an unwavering commitment to excellence. The school anthem resonated across the grounds, setting an inspiring tone for the day.
The ceremonial lighting of the torch by the Chief Guest, accompanied by the school’s best athletes, marked the official commencement of the meet. A vibrant March Past, led by the energetic school band and the Student Council, showcased precision and discipline. The oath-taking ceremony, administered by Senior School Principal, Ms. Priyanka Suresh, emphasised the values of sportsmanship and integrity.
Junior School Principal, Ms. Rajee Samjith welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest, acknowledging his contributions to Indian hockey. The Chief Guest declared the sports meet open, following the release of balloons, symbolising the boundless aspirations of The Concordians.
The first event was the Yoga Display which reflected the school’s emphasis on mental and physical well-being. The unveiling of Penlighten, a publication encapsulating the vibrant school life, was a proud moment for all present. Competitive events like the relay race thrilled the spectators, while performances such as the Taekwondo Display and Musical Fusion captivated the audience.
The Drill Displays by Eirene, Athena, Nike and Eos Houses showcased creativity and synchronisation, leaving an indelible mark. Grade X students mesmerised the audience with their special performance ‘The Tutting dance’.
The School honoured all the CBSE Board (2023-24) toppers of Grade X and XII for their academic excellence.
The day culminated in the recognition of achievements:
• Awards for Best Drill Display, Best March Past, and individual titles such as Most Valuable Player, Best House Captain and Best House Vice Captain celebrated dedication and talent.
• The Best House Master, Assistant House Master, and Best House of the Year awards added a touch of pride to the occasion.
NPS, Ckbnr CEO, Ms. Preethi Reddy, commended the participants and emphasised the holistic growth facilitated by sports. The Chief Guest Mr. Vickram Kanth addressed the students and urged them to follow the 3 Ds – that is Determination, Dedication and Discipline to achieve success. He further inspired students with anecdotes of perseverance, while the Senior School Principal, Ms. Priyanka Suresh concluded with an encouraging message of striving for excellence.
The Victory Run brought together participants of the Eos House, who were given the Best House of the Academic Year 2024-25, and Athena House (Runners) symbolising unity and triumph. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks and the National Anthem, leaving everyone inspired and motivated.
