FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL (NURSERY AND PLAYGROUP) – 2024

“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” – Benjamin Franklin

Little children from Nursery and Playgroup began their first day of school on Wednesday, the 5th of June and Friday, the 7th of June respectively.

Excitement buzzed through the corridors as tiny feet pitter-pattered and cheerful giggles filled the air. Teachers stood at the entrance, greeting each child with warm smiles and reassuring words, helping to ease the butterflies in their stomachs. Some clung to their parents initially, eyes wide with curiosity and a hint of apprehension, but soon enough, the allure of new friends and engaging activities drew them in. Colourful posters adorned the walls of each classroom and little children along with their parent engaged themselves in a game of passing the ball through a tunnel. Laughter filled the air as the bright-coloured ball rolled back and forth. Each successful pass was met with cheers and claps, fostering a sense of accomplishment and joy. Parents watched with delighted smiles, occasionally joining in to keep the game lively and fun.

The Playgroup, just as vibrant, echoed with laughter as tiny feet shuffled into the brightly decorated classroom. The tables were arranged with vibrant poster colours, sponges and papers, creating a kaleidoscope of creativity. The day was filled with joyful activities: sponge dabbing, flower sticking and exploring everything around them. Little children discovered new puzzles and were set out to make new friends. Parents watched with a mix of pride and nostalgia, capturing these precious moments on their cameras. It was a day of new beginnings, where friendships would be forged, and imaginations would take flight.

The Junior school Principal, Ms. Rajee Samjith assured the parents of taking care of little children, emphasising the school’s commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment. She highlighted the various measures already in place, such as increased supervision, regular safety drills, and a well-trained staff dedicated to the well-being of every child. She concluded with a sense of reassurance and a shared vision for a supportive and enriching school community.

The first day of kindergarten was not just a milestone for the children but a precious memory for their parents, who watched with pride as their little ones took their first steps into the world of education. It was indeed a day of new beginnings, where friendships would be formed, lessons learned, and countless memories made.
