A Jolly Phonics session was organised for the teachers of Pre-Primary to Grade II on Saturday, the 10th of August 2024. The session was led by the Director of ESM Academy, Ms. Gayathiri Natarajan.

The session was designed to enhance the teachers’ understanding and implementation of phonics in their classrooms. Ms. Gayathiri Natarajan, with her extensive experience and expertise, guided the educators through various interactive and engaging activities. The session began with an introduction to the fundamentals of Jolly Phonics, emphasising the importance of phonemic awareness and the role it plays in early literacy. Teachers participated enthusiastically in hands-on exercises that demonstrated how to teach letter sounds and blending. The use of songs, stories, and actions to reinforce learning was highlighted, making the process enjoyable for young learners.

Ms. Gayathiri Natarajan also shared valuable tips on classroom management and how to cater to different learning styles within the same classroom. Throughout the session, there were opportunities for teachers to ask questions and share their own experiences. This collaborative atmosphere fostered a sense of community and a shared commitment to improving literacy outcomes for all students.
