From Idea to Publication: A Journalist’s Journey
On July 19, 2024, NPS, Ckbnr had the privilege of hosting a media talk and career counselling session led by Ms. Manuja Veerappa, Assistant Editor, Sports in Times of India, Bangalore with extensive experience in the field.
Ms Manuja was also one of the panel of judges for the inter-house debate competition held before the talk.
Media Talk aimed to provide students with insights into the media industry, and offer guidance on career planning and development.
Ms Manuja began the talk by sharing her journey in sports journalism. She recounted her early days, the challenges faced, and the milestones achieved. This personal narrative provided students with a realistic view of what it takes to succeed in the competitive field of journalism.
She also gave an insight into Journalism and delved into the specifics of newsroom, offering students a glimpse into the daily responsibilities, skills required, and the evolving nature of the job.
Manuja engaged the students in an interactive question & answer session providing personalised advice and answers to their queries.
The media talk and career counselling session was an enlightening experience for the students as it not only provided valuable industry insights but also inspired students to pursue their career goals with confidence and determination.
Senior School Principal, Ms Priyanka Suresh expressed her gratitude to Ms Manuja for taking out time to share her knowledge and experiences with the students, by presenting a sapling to Ms Manuja, for her valuable contribution.
